If you’re heading to the Isle of Man TT, whether it’s your first time or your fifteenth, a little preparation goes a long way.
As a company rooted in the island and passionate about motorcycle racing, Duke Travel has helped thousands of fans experience the TT safely and in style. Here are our top tips, the do’s and don’ts, to help you enjoy this iconic event like a pro.
DO: Soak It All In (Safely!)

1. Respect the Course and Follow the Rules

When the roads close for racing, they become one of the most dangerous circuits in the
world, and one of the most thrilling to watch.

Always:

  • Stay off the course once it’s closed.
  • Obey safety signage and fencing.
  • Only view from approved spectator areas.

Even experienced visitors can underestimate how fast things happen here. The TT is like no other, treat it with respect.

2. Listen to the Marshals

Marshals are the lifeblood of TT safety, they’re volunteers, and many have been doing this
for years. If one asks you to move or stay put, it’s for a good reason. Friendly advice: a thank you goes a long way too.

3. Plan Ahead

The best views often mean early starts! Secure your spot in plenty of time, especially on
race days. Some popular areas (like Creg-ny-Baa or Ballaugh Bridge) get busy fast. Duke
Travel tip: if you’re travelling with us, we’ll often arrange transfers or give our customers a
heads-up on the quieter gems.

4. Pack for All Seasons

Manx weather can be… unpredictable. Bring layers, waterproofs, sunscreen, and plenty of
snacks, especially if you’re in a more remote viewing spot.

5. Use Public Transport or Arranged Travel

Between road closures and limited parking, public transport or pre-booked travel packages can make life much easier. Many of our tours include transfers to key viewing locations, no stress, no parking tickets!

6. Stay Connected (But Hands-Free!)

Keep up to date with schedule changes via @ttracesofficial, Radio TT. But please, no selfie sticks or drones near the course. They’re a danger to riders and spectators alike.

DON’T: Put Yourself (or Others) at Risk

1. Don’t Step on the Course

It may sound obvious, but people still do it. It’s illegal, dangerous, and can get the entire day’s racing delayed or cancelled. Don’t be that person.

2. Don’t Ignore Instructions

If a marshal tells you to move, there’s a reason. Not only are they ensuring your safety, but they’re protecting the riders too.

3. Don’t Block Roads or Signage

If you’re driving or parking, keep access routes clear for emergency vehicles. And never
tamper with signage, lives depend on it.

4. Don’t Forget the Basics

There’s not always a café or loo nearby. Bring water, snacks, hand sanitiser, and a power bank, you’ll thank yourself later.

Top Viewing Tips from the Duke Travel Team

We’ve been watching the TT for decades and helping others do the same. Here are some of our team’s favourite spots:

  • Braddan Bridge: Excellent facilities, good visibility, and a great atmosphere.
  • Milntown: Watch the bikes reach eye-watering speeds inches away from a stone wall! You also do it with a drink in hand.
  • Parliament Square (Ramsey): A slower section with tight corners, perfect for photos and a bite to eat between races.
  • Hillberry: Hear the bike screaming down from the mountain and into a right hand bend at over 100mph.
Accessible Viewing Areas

We’re proud that the TT has been improving year after year for accessibility. Some of the
best inclusive viewing areas include:

  • The Crosby Pub: Ramp access, accessible toilets, and fast bikes passing just metres away.
  • The Hawthorn, Greeba: Flat, clear views and good facilities make this a firm favourite for wheelchair users.

(If you’re travelling with us and need accessibility advice, we’re always happy to help.)

Enjoy the TT Spirit — Off the Track

The racing is only part of the TT story. Be sure to explore:

  • Bushy’s TT Village – A must-visit for great beer, live music, and catching up with fellow fans.
  • The TT Fan Park – Daily entertainment, interviews, and more, all free to attend.
