The Isle of Man TT races were featured on ‘CBS 60 Minutes’ in the USA at the weekend, offering a great insight into the history of the TT and the Isle of Man’s rich heritage. If you’re considering a trip to the TT races, then the programme is definitely worth viewing.
The award-winning news magazine show, which first aired back in 1968, has provided hard-hitting investigative reporting for over 50 years, and this time, it turned its attention to the world’s most iconic motorcycle road race – the Isle of Man TT.
In the programme, host Bill Whitaker delves into the unique culture of the Isle of Man, speaking to a number of local experts about why the island is the perfect setting for the legendary race. Race officials Paul Phillips and Richard ‘Milky’ Quayle also feature to discuss the complexities of the event and what they think makes it so special.
Viewers also hear from Rennie Scaysbrook, a motorcycle-journalist-turned-racer who was first invited to compete at the TT in 2022 after winning at Pikes Peak. Scaysbrook discusses the balance between the ultimate thrill that draws racers to the TT and the inherent dangers of the event. Host Whitaker also interviews 13-time TT winner and current lap record holder Peter Hickman about his love of the TT and why he competes at the event.
