The Classic TT returns in 2026, running from Wednesday 19th to Friday 28th August, and this time the event will celebrate a rider who has defined modern TT racing — John McGuinness MBE.

Known to fans worldwide as the “Morecambe Missile”, McGuinness will mark 30 years of competition on the Isle of Man Mountain Course with a programme of special events and tributes.

Honouring a TT Great

John McGuinness is more than a race winner. With 23 TT victories, he is the third most successful rider in the event’s history, behind only Michael and Joey Dunlop. His career has spanned eras — from lightweight two-strokes to Superbikes and even the electric TT Zero machines.

But perhaps his most famous achievement came during the 2007 Centenary TT, when he became the first rider ever to lap the Mountain Course at 130mph. That milestone cemented his place as one of the all-time greats of road racing.

What to Expect in 2026

Fans heading to the Isle of Man for the Classic TT 2026 can look forward to a celebration worthy of McGuinness’s legendary status:

  • Parade Lap – McGuinness will relive his famous 2007 centenary moment, riding the same machine, in the same kit, to recreate the first-ever 130mph lap.
  • Career Exhibition – An exclusive showcase of bikes, memorabilia, and highlights from his TT career
  • Classic TT Racing – The racing itself remains at the heart of the event, with machines and riders from across eras keeping the heritage of the TT alive.

This tribute follows on from 2025’s memorable homage to Joey Dunlop’s famous 2000 treble, ensuring that Classic TT 2026 will be just as emotional and unmissable.
