Q: I don’t know where to start planning my trip! How can you help?
A: You’re not alone! “I don’t know where to start” is a common feeling. We can help you narrow things down and get the planning process rolling. To begin, we just need a rough idea of the basics:
- How many people are travelling
- How long do you want to visit for (e.g. a weekend, 5 days, two weeks)?
- Any initial accommodation preferences (e.g. hotel, guesthouse, cabin, glamping or camping).
- How do you plan on travelling here (e.g. flying, taking a ferry)
Once you provide this preliminary information, we can then suggest relevant packages or even create a bespoke itinerary to suit your needs.

Q: How far in advance should I book for the TT?
A: The earlier, the better! Early bookers have more options and can pay a deposit rather than the full balance. Hotel rooms and ferry crossings are the first to sell out, while glamping and camping options stay available longer.

Q: How quickly does the TT sell out?
A: A common misconception about the Isle of Man TT is that tickets and travel sell out 1-2 years in advance. In reality, that is far from accurate. TT doesn’t go on sale until after the previous year’s event, so usually around 11 months in advance. Packages do not sell out in a matter of days or even weeks, and you can still secure a spot closer to the event – just expect far fewer travel and accommodation options!
Q: Should I book travel or accommodation first?
A: We recommend looking at both together to ensure you can actually reach the island on the dates of your chosen package. Our travel team can also help advise you on the availability of your desired package whilst you look into your travel options. Ultimately, travel to the Isle of Man should be your priority, as ferries and flights typically sell out before accommodation does.
Q: What is the best way to travel to the Isle of Man
A: Flights and ferries are equally popular modes of travel to the island; however, influencing factors would be where you are located in the world, how much time you are happy to spend travelling, costs, and availability.

Q: Is it possible to bring a car or rent a car during TT?
A: Whilst we do not ordinarily recommend travelling by car during TT, depending on the circumstances, this may be more suitable to some than others. If this is something you are considering, it is worth understanding some of the challenges that you may encounter so that you are fully prepared:
– Congested roads; the roads on the Isle of Man get very congested during TT, particularly in towns and around the viewing locations. During road closures, it can be very slow progress to move around due to diversions and queues.
– Parking in Douglas is not only hard to come by, but roadside parking if you can find it, is typically limited to 2 hours using a parking disc. Most hotels do not come with car parking, and those that do have limited spaces.
– To secure a car booking on the ferry requires booking early as the ferry company earmarks only a small number of spaces. As such, you may be restricted to having to come at certain times on certain days.
– If you wanted to rent a car, you would need to approach the rental agencies directly as this is not something Duke Travel are able to facilitate.
Q: Where are your accommodations based on the island? Is it best to stay in Douglas?
A: Most of our accommodations are based in or near to Douglas, with the exception of Peel TT Tent Village, which is located in the West of the Island in the town of Peel. Q: Do you offer accessible accommodation?
A: Some of our accommodation providers have designated accessible rooms and facilities, whereas others have more simple features such as elevators, ground-level rooms, etc. Depending on the specific needs of the person, our travel team can help advise on the best accommodations, or you can read about them here: https://www.duketravel.com/accommodation-options/
Q: Do I need a visa?
A: International or European travellers will require an ETA visa as you are not a UK resident. As the Isle of Man forms part of the Common Travel Area, you can travel here under a UK visa providing you are eligible. Q: Is the TT suitable for families?
A: Nobody knows your children better than you, so deciding if the Isle of Man TT is suitable comes down to how well they handle things like loud noises, busy crowds, and time spent in one location for potentially long periods of time. Thousands of families enjoy the exciting festival atmosphere, free paddock access, and fast bikes; however, you should plan ahead and always have a backup plan. Ultimately, with the right preparation, the Isle of Man TT can be an unforgettable family adventure, as long as your children are comfortable with the sensory intensity and structure of road racing.
Q: What’s the biggest mistake first-time visitors make?
A: Not doing their research! The Isle of Man TT is a unique, world-class festival like no other, and showing up without a basic understanding of how the island operates during race week can really catch you off guard.
Since we don’t know what you already know versus what might surprise you, we can’t anticipate every unknown.

Q: How can I make this trip special?
A: What makes TT special for one person may not translate to another, as everyone is wired differently. Things like bringing your own motorbike can feel special, as can booking a hospitality day at one of our fabulous hospitality zones.
