It is with regret, but understanding, that we pass on the news of the Isle of Man Government’s decision to cancel the 2020 Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix.
In the end, no other decision could have been made in the current circumstances. Whilst we would have liked to have seen the return of real road racing to the Isle of Man, and had the chance to welcome all our wonderful visitors for a well-earned holiday, the changed priorities surrounding the containment of the coronavirus outbreak must come first.
In addition to the preventive measures in place restricting travel to limit the spread of the virus, implemented by the Manx authorities and governments around the world, Manx Motor Cycle Club Chairman Peter Maddocks points out that riders will have had insufficient practice time due to the curtailment of racing programmes across the country.
With the Isle of Man Government’s decision to cancel the Classic TT, Duke Travel will now begin the process of contacting customers who have booked travel, accommodation or packages for the event to discuss options for transfers or refunds. We would ask any customers to bear with us and wait until we contact you, as we will firstly need to speak to suppliers to ensure that transfers will be able to take place for 2021. We anticipate that this will be a very straightforward process and hope to be in touch with all customers before Friday, 8th May.
Once again, we’re sorry that we can’t welcome you to the Island for another great road racing event this year, but we look forward to a happy racing reunion in 2021. Stay safe and healthy until then.
